Doctor Biano Hobson, an experienced Specialist Physician, has joined Signapps as Clinical Manager. Dr. Hobson’s appointment is an important step forward in the growth of the Signapps business in South Africa, which has seen significant growth in 2020, partly because of the importance of social distancing in the treatment of infected CoVID patients, but also because of the product’s inherent value in many other areas of clinical practice.
Dr. Hobson will be working closely with our customers and product team to ensure alignment of the development of the Signapps platform with our customers’ clinical needs and existing systems.
Dr. Hobson is a Specialist Physician who qualified through the University of Stellenbosch and is on the specialist register in South Africa. She has a particular interest in acute stroke management, post-acute stroke management and general subacute rehabilitation patient care. She represents the private-practicing Specialist Family Physicians on the SAAFP National Council, where she was recently re-elected for a third term. She also acts as Principal Investigator or Sub-Investigator on multiple international research projects at the Helderberg Research Centre, has published several articles in various journals and has spoken at local CPD congresses. Outside of work, she enjoys producing and collecting artworks, partaking in water sports and braving the outdoors.
Dr. Hobson says, “Having successfully used Signapps as the patient care co-ordination platform of choice, I met Andrew Davies and the Signapps management team two years ago. Since then I have been involved in many of the projects related to Signapps across various disciplines and in several hospital groups where we found a secure patient centric messaging platform to be complimentary to existing information technology systems in place. When the opportunity arose to join the company full-time I jumped at it.”
Andrew Davies, CEO of Signapps, says, “We are thrilled to welcome Biano to the Signapps team. Not only is she experienced in the practical use of the product, but she brings a wealth of broad clinical experience to the team, essential when we are interfacing with clinicians and need to communicate at their level. This appointment at a difficult time in the midst of the CoVID pandemic is a clear indication that Signapps has a key role to play in patient treatment in South Africa. Social distancing in the clinical environment is becoming increasingly important. This means that a minimum of health-care workers – doctors, nurses and others – should be present with the patient without compromising the effectiveness of the treatment. Signapps facilitates this by allowing effective communication between the health-care team, including storing and accessing key documents such as X-Rays and pathology reports, remotely. Given the rapidly-changing clinical environment that we are working in, I am certain that Biano Hobson’s experience and commitment will give added impetus to the growth of this important business.”
